East Launceston Primary School Parents and Friends Association Inc. (ELPSP&F).

What is the ELPSP&F?

It is an incorporated association mainly consisting of parents and friends of past and present children of ELPS.

What does it do?

The P&F exists to help the school, mainly through fundraising. The association runs the school clothing pool and owns three quarters of the school oval, including the Oxford St pavilion. The oval and pavilion is leased to the Department of Education during school hours. After hours, the oval is open to the public and forms an integral part of the local community  (the oval and pavilion are regularly rented by community groups).  In addition to revenue generated by the oval and clothing shop, the P&F run the biannual school fair as well as other fund-raising and social events during the year. The school makes regular funding requests at P&F meetings for financial support beyond that provided by the Department of Education. This may be for specific equipment such as interactive televisions, 3D printers, air conditioners and books or special program / activity support such as camps or events. The P&F has made a significant contribution to the school over many years.

The legal status of the P&F

The association is an incorporated independent legal entity with its own constitution and executive. It owns assets and trades. The ELPS P&F operates independently from the School Association, but with a common purpose to support the students of the school. The School Association (SA) is a group made up of parents and staff that gives advice and helps with school governance and policy decisions.
